November - Godzilla in a flower park and coastal hiking

Hi again, great to see you.

Here is a lot of words about November and the things we did.  First up is the Design Festa, November 2013 edition.

Design Festa
It's the third time that it's been featured on the blog, so I'll be brief:

Great time, great fun, weird stuff and fun stuff.  Got out early so that we missed the ridiculous crowds, but saw enough.  More photos here.

Kurihama Flower Park

We also went to Kurihama Flower Park, a park that has a lot of flowers, fancy that.  We went out of season for a lot of the flowers, but the atmosphere was good and it was nice weather for a picnic, also for the main attraction, Godzilla.

Godzilla slide.

A slide in the middle of a Godzilla statue.

Right, so we're on the same page here.  It was a nice park, and a good walk up a big hill to a playground with a big wooden playground and a Godzilla statue that doubled as a slippery dip.  Also there was a hamburger jumping castle.

We were the only ones there without kids in tow running around and playing in the questionable opening of the hamburger and Godzilla's angry butt.  We had some picnic food, and caught a ride with the Kurihama flower train back to the entrance.

Nice day out.  Here's more photos.

Ito and Jogasaki Kaigan hike

As a belated birthday present, Jason shouted me a trip to Ito, where we'd stay at a ryokan and go on a hike at the end of October.  If you read last month's wrap-up, you'll have seen that there was no hiking happening there, and that's because a typhoon hit that weekend, so I had to cancel our plans last minute.  No big deal though, it just became mega belated and we had more time to research a different hike.

Ito is a coastal and mountainous town in Shizuoka.  I did a hike in Ito in August, climbing Mount Amagi, but I thought it would be nice to do something a bit different this time around, with better views.  Here's photos of the August hike if you're interested.

Here's a photo of our hotel room in Ito.  We stayed in a ryokan called K's House.

We rolled out the futon, got the temperature right for the night, and set out the next morning on the hike.

It was maybe a ten minute walk from the station and then we had glorious views basically the whole way.  Photos galore ahead.  Remember, clicking on an image makes it bigger.

A waterfall along the trail, near the end.

From the both of us, we wish you all a happy Christmas and holiday season, and in January will update you with the December/Christmas/New year things we got up to.

Until next time!

Bye!
By the way, more hike photos HERE
